‘To Become’ - (2012) - 58cm x 50cm

“To Become is my more recent journey into transcendent and iridescent hues, shying away from yet again more figurative work. I was in a mode of passivity after trying to force the outcome of my paintings for a short period of time. I had to allow myself to take a step back, and allow the paint to take more steps forward - leaving me as the passenger. I feel that approach is best in painting no matter what it is one paints whether it be still life, surrealism, abstract expressionism - the paint is always stronger than one’s mind, allow it to do so. Allow it “To Become.”
